Schererville, IN - 9/15/07 - The 46th annual Tony Bettenhausen Memorial presented by Lisa Thomas Salon will see Josh Nelms entered in a second TK racing team car. Nelms the 2004 & 2005 Illiana MidAm sportsman champion got a call from team owner Tom Kmak on Thursday. “I actually missed the call” (Nelms) “Kmak asked if I was interested in driving one of his cars and my answer was absolutely.” Nelms was undecided whether to run the Bettenhausen with his own car, so the TK offer was a easy decision to make. “Josh will do a fine job for us plus he`s up in final points and we could use that provisional if needed to get the car in the field” stated Tom Kmak from TK racing headquarters.

Schererville, in - 9/01/07 - For much of Saturday night's late-model feature at Illiana Speedway, Jeff Cannon was an observer. An interested spectator. Cannon was running third behind frontrunners John Nutley and Josh Nelms. The duo in front of him were running side by side. "Neither one of them was giving up," Cannon said. "It was a good race to watch. But I had to put it in there eventually." When Nutley cleared Nelms via the outside on lap 20, Cannon seized an opportunity and got underneath Nelms. One lap later Cannon was gliding past Nutley, just as he is toward the 2007 track title. Cannon went on to beat Nutley to the finish line by 1.927 seconds. It was Cannon's fifth win of the season. The side-by-side battle between Nutley and Nelms was a classic. Nelms only recently arrived on the late-model scene, but is a former Mid-American titlist at Illiana. "Running side by side like that, I was just hoping me and him could run like that and hold everybody else off," Nutley said. "I wanted it, and I knew he wanted his first (late-model) win. I wasn't going to give it to him. When Cannon came up on me, I thought Josh was still there. I didn't know it was Cannon." He found out in a hurry. After the pass, Nutley fell back into a gaggle of frontrunners that included Mike Monroe, Mike White and Dave Weltmeyer. He survived a near spin in lapped traffic and posted a strong second place finish. Nelms was third, followed by Monroe, Weltmeyer and Bobby Gash. White developed handling problems and had to pull his No. 00 out of the race. He finished 17th.

Rockford, IL - 8/25/07 Josh had decided to go back to Rockford due to the heavy rains canceling Illiana's racing program for the evening. Josh managed to qualify 6th quick and finished 7th in the heat race. At the drop of the green flag, pace setters Scott McGinnis and Mike Lloyd made contact across the stripe sending McGinnis for a wild ride through the infield mud. Once the field was regrouped, Lloyd would dispose of McGinnis on the restart with Matt Berger in hot pursuit. Just five laps into the contest Josh Nelms threw his hat into the ring amongst the leaders. By the halfway mark Nelms, the 2006 Rockford Rookie of the Year had moved into second spot, challenging to the inside of Lloyd while point leaders Bilderback held the fourth position with Gille applying the pressure while the duo was behind Berger, with seven time track Champion John Knaus in tow. Berger shot back past Nelms and Gille would follow suit with only eight laps remaining. Gille looked for every which way possible past Berger to challenge for the top spot but was unsuccessful, Lloyd would collect the win with Berger, Gille, Bilderback finishing second through fourth, Nelms clung to the fifth position edging current Slinger Super Speedway Limited Late Model Point Leader Jon Reynolds, Jr. at the line.
