Josh Nelms hoping for better luck
at Anderson; Track similar to his
home track of Rockford
Lockport, Illinois (Wednesday,
June 1st, 2011): As the inaugural
season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars
Tour Presented by GM Performance
Parts gets underway, Josh Nelms
knows that the season is a long one.
Securing good finishes, being
competitive at tracks he's never seen
before are two important keys. The
series' last race and upcoming
event are two tracks that Nelms
will have to figure things out quickly.
The Trgovich Racing Team made the
haul o ver to Columbus Motor Speedway inColumbus, Ohio on Saturday, May 28th
for the running of the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com. For the
Lockport, Illinois driver, the trip to the 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked
circular paved oval was an adventurous one to say the least.
"I had never seen Columbus before
showing up on Saturday morning!"
Nelms remarked. "We were real
balanced in Practice. I was very happy.
Was real disappointed in
Qualifying though, we still picked up a lot
but left more on the table. We
weren't worried though,
we knew we had a good car." He added.
Starting 17th in the 24-car field,
Nelms began picking off cars one by
one and by the 1/2 way point of
the 100-lap feature, Nelms cracked
the top five and was then up to
third battling with 2010 Columbus
Motor Speedway NASCAR Late Models
Track Champion David Carter.
Contactbetween the two drivers on lap 84 relegated Nelms to the back of thepack. He would finish 14th.
"The car just got loose and we
ended up spinning. That was so
unfortunate, we were fast and had
a shot at winning!" Explained the
35-year-old. "Looking forward to
Anderson this weekend, never raced
there before either, but it has a
lot of similarities to Rockford and
I've had a lot of success there."
He ended.
The
Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com is next up on the 2011 schedule
within the JEGS/CRA/GM series as
the fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway in
Anderson, Indiana will host the newest series within Champion Racing
Association (CRA) on Saturday, June 4th. Going into the race, Nelms is in a
whopping
five-way tie for ninth in the
season long point's chase.
