may 8th finally the season kicked off at Illiana Speedway. The CJ Motorsports team headed out early and unloaded the car to run it through tech once again. We took the car out and practiced with the tires we used at Lake Geneva and to our surprise the car was still a rocket. We put 4 new tires to scuff them in on the final practice and parked the car till qualifying. Josh was the 8th car to roll off and turned his fastest lap ever with a 20.94 good for 3rd quick. In the heat he started 4th row outside and found his groove and moved to finish 3rd in the heat right behind the leaders. In the feature he started 3rd row outside and was shuffled back on the start but didn't give up and worked his way back up front and finished an impressive 3rd. For the first night the team worked well and should be proud.

on May 1st- The season finally started but not in the right place. With rain in the forecast for the entire day for illiana. the CJ Motorsports team headed North to Lake Geneva. Josh had raced at the 1/3 mile course before and had done well. The team got there and quickly started working on the car to change the gear and tires. Josh was able to get out for one practice and struggled with a tight racecar. Without a chance to scuff a new set of tires the team went with some used tires and Josh qualified 12th with a 17.62. He started outside first row in the heat race and led the first 6 laps and was overtaken and finished 3rd with the car still not handling right. Drastic changes were made to the car in hoping to free the car up a bit a for Josh. He started second row outside and on the warm up laps he knew the car was better.

Jamie Dorsey came off the outside pole and moved to a comfortable lead at quickly at the drop of the green in the MSCS main event. Erik Pierce, Bobby Hacker and Josh Nelms ran in a cluster behind him. By the end of the tenth lap Nelms was second but the leader was still some distance ahead of the field, that still remained very tight.

By lap twelve Jeremy Miller had worked his way up to third and Nelms was starting to challenge the leader. Then on lap eighteen contact was made between Nelms and the leader. Around went Dorsey and out came the only Yellow pages USA caution period. Both drivers were sent to the back and Miller was the new leader and went on to win the event. After the race Josh said, "it was my own stupidity that caused the team a top 3 tonight, they know who we are now."
