CJ MOTORSPORTS PICKS UP THEIR
4TH FEATURE WIN
OF THE YEAR! (7/31/04)
July 31st - Josh was looking to keep building on his point lead. During the week the team changed many parts on the cars that they found to be bad. In practice Josh was satisfied with the car and didn't do any changes. Josh was 3rd to qualify and ran a 20.99 good for second quick. In the heat race Josh just rode around and made a passes and finished 5th. In the feature Josh started 4th row inside and ran side by side for the first 7 laps and and then the field started to pan out and Josh moved up to 4th. A caution came out and Josh took over second a lap later and set his sights on the leader. After the caution Josh came on the radio and said he was losing his brakes. Josh struggled and ran down the leader. A caution came out with 3 to go. On the restart Josh stayed right on the leader and followed. The white flag flew and in the middle of turn one Josh bump the leader and he slid up a groove and Josh went on to win the feature. After the race Josh apologized for bumping Dave Gentile Jr. "Dave has run us clean all year and I didn't mean to do it," Josh said after the race.

July 24 - Saturday was a nice cool day that stayed cloudy most of the day. Josh was ready and was 2nd quick in practice. Josh qualified 5th with a 20.906. After qualifying the team found a bad shock and replaced it for the heat race. Josh started 2nd row inside and ran 3rd the whole race right behind the leaders when Josh bumped the leader and slowed up and fell back and then avoided a wreck on the last lap and finished 5th. The feature had Josh started 5th row inside and he slowly worked his way up and took over second with 5 laps to go on and finish 2nd in the feature.

CJ MOTORSPORTS PICKS UP THEIR
3RD FEATURE WIN
OF THE YEAR! (7/17/04)
July 17th - Josh and Carl started the day out getting the car finished up while Jason and Butch spent the week on vacation. The car was loaded and ready to go as the they got home. They unloaded the car and Josh practiced and was not happy with the car even though he was one of the fastest cars. Josh was 3rd to qualify and ran a 20.93 good for second quick. After qualifying Josh asked for a change on the car and the team did it. Josh wanted the old spoiler put back on the car. In the heat he started 4th row inside and worked his way up and finished 4th in he heat. The feature had Josh starting inside 4th row again but on the first lap a major crash took out a few cars. Josh then was moved to the outside 3rd row on the restart. Josh stayed in 6th for a long time waiting for the leaders to go single file and about lap 12 Josh finally had a chance to start moving forward and caught the leader about lap 18 and followed closely on his bumper. On lap 21 a car had a lot of smoke which Josh backed out of the throttle because neither Butch nor Josh knew if it was oil. Josh fell back 10 cars and ran him back down and took the lead and went on to win his 3rd feature of the year.

one goal in mind

I met Josh back in 1995 when I was a crew member for Danny Difazzio at Sycamore Speedway. After Danny won the Late Model Championship in 1995, Josh asked if I wanted to help him out in 1996 in the Late Model division. I told Josh I would, and the rest is history. Josh won the Late Model Championship in 1996. From 1997 through the 1999 season Josh ran in the Super Late Model division, finishing 11th, 2nd and 3rd. During the 1999 season Josh got a Mid-American stockcar to run on asphalt and ran his first race at Chicago motor Speedway in Cicero Il. After the 1999 season, Josh sold the Super Late and concentrated on the Mid-American car. The 2000 season was the season to get familiar with racing an asphalt. From 2001 to the present Josh has seen himself grow as a driver in those years, and now Josh is one of the best in his division this year. I think this 2004 season has the best driver / crew combination that I have been apart of. I have noticed that this crew works together as a team. If there is a problem with the car nobody panics they get together talk it out, and fix the problem. because the team has one goal in mind -
That is to win the Mid-Am Championship in 2004 at Illiana Speedway.

A hot and muggy day started with team at the Steger library for 2 hours showing the car. At the track it got hotter it seemed. We made some changes to the car over the week and went and practiced and liked the feel. Josh ran a 20.954 qualifying good for 2nd quick. In the heat race he started inside 5th row and moved up to finish 5th in the heat. The feature had Josh on the outside 4th row. At the start he moved up quickly and was in 3rd by lap 6. He made his move for the lead then a yellow came out and put him back in 2nd. On the first lap of the restart Josh again went for the lead and ran door to door with Jeff Cannon for 21 laps and lost by a foot at the line. Over the last 10 laps Josh said the car was getting looser and looser. After going to the scales the team realized the left rear tire was almost flat. Josh did a great job holding on to finish second.
